Engage
engage : being actively involved in or committed
Welcome … we have all heard about it and some of us have experienced it first hand as victims of crime. However, could it be time for a paradigm shift in how we fight crime? Often, we expect our police services to have all the solutions and we pressure our governments to make changes in our justice system. We often complain about crime but do each of us really play an “active” role in trying to prevent it? What’s our role and how can we make an impact?
Get engaged in being part of the many solutions and collaborate through crime prevention partnerships in your community, city, province, country and around the world. There is an exciting movement that speaks to the idea of WE are smarter than ME. It starts right here, right now but it means making a strong commitment to crime prevention. We can empower each other by listening and sharing ideas about best practices and creating new initiatives like this one … Target Crime.
Consider this an opportunity for awakening, realizing our full potential as human beings. These are exciting times and WE can make a difference! The Target Crime project is a cooperative effort that will focus on real issues about crime in your community and around the world. It is my hope as a crime prevention practitioner and global citizen that you will join me and other like-minded individuals in sharing your thoughts and ideas on this very important subject.
The challenge for each of us is to build a feeling of community, dependence on one another. It’s all about working together for a common goal and we can’t do it alone. I can think of no greater challenge than to ensure the safety and well-being of each other, our families, friends and future generations. Reducing the fear and incidence of crime among us is an achievable goal and sustainable if WE join forces.
Engage yourselves & let’s prevent crime together,
